Death before breakfast.

10Sep07

I thought that was what would happen today.

I got up, bright dark and early, got dressed, and headed out to try Couch to 5K Week 1 again. I didn’t run at all last week (naughty), and the week before I hadn’t managed to finish the whole plan once, so I was a little apprehensive.

Not even 20 feet up the street, and I went right through a spiderweb. Yuck. Once I crossed the street, I came across a woman walking her dog, who had seen me pulling the webbing off myself, and we joked about the early morning webs all over our neighbourhood.

I took a slightly different route today, to start getting used to the hills in the area. I can’t keep doing laps of the high school; it’s too boring, even if it is the only flat bit nearby. I found out how long it would take me to get up to the track, and once I’m a little speedier, I should be able to make it up there, do the bulk of the session, and get home in the 30-40minutes.

The best news? I did the whole session! I did have to stop briefly during the 7th run interval to take a hit of my puffer, but I did it!

Of course, by the time I got home and stretched, the euphoria wore off, and I realized that I felt like death. I was very tight in the chest, which I think was a combination of pushing myself with the session and my soon-to-be-expired puffer meds. Time for a trip to the doctor for a new puffer, I suppose.

I can’t believe I did it!

Congratultions on completing your session! When I think back on the first week I tried c25k, I could only “run” for 30 seconds. At the time I thought it was hopeless, but today I did 5 1-minute intervals and am thinking of increasing. We can do it!

  2. Congrats!

Running into the spider web must have been creepy!! Yuk!

Great work sweetie! I’m really happy that you completed the whole session. I did a little dance for you.

Keep going and good luck with the spiders next time

    well done!

The first time I completed a run I was so excited to do it again that I very nearly couldn’t wait til two days later. Lame

Hows it going? Have you run again?

My show closes tomorrow. I’m going to give myself Sunday off and then I am going to have a crack, I think. Yay running!
